Finally, after some serious retouching and changing I finished my old Skype icon - hope you like it
In the zip: iContainer, Macintosh icon, icns, png files for all the sizes: 512x512, 256x256, 128x128, 48x48, 32x32, 16x16.
I use Skype a lot and I thought some of you have to use Skype too
If you don't use Candybar - go to Applications/Skype/ right click, choose Show Package Contents and put the SkypeBlue.icns to the Resources folder. Back up the oryginal Skype SkypeBlue.icns file first, of course
Skype is a bit of a pain. If you want a custom icon for skype, what you need to do is to set up the skype shortcut manually, however if you right click on the desktop and select "create shortcut" and select skype, it will still set to being uncustomiseable.
What you need to do is to copy a different shortcut (like your calculator or notepad, doesn't matter) and place it on the desktop. Then edit the properties of that shortcut, change the icon to skype icon you want and change the "Target" and "Start In" settings to point to skype instead of the program the shortcut originally pointed to.
Remember, however, when you're doing this that copying them from the regular skype shortcut might not work as they are masked and show as something else in that shortcut (that you can also not edit), you will have to find the targets in your files manually and set them to that depending on your windows version.
Example of mine: [link] (on the left with the gray icon is converted from a copy of my calculator shortcut, one on the right with the default icon is the default skype shortcut.)
